The 4.7-star rating from 132 buyers backs up my experience — this filter does the job without breaking the bank. The WIX 49087 feels noticeably more premium right out of the box with its heat-resistant plastisol seals and embossed pleats. It earned the Amazon’s Choice badge with a stellar 4.8-star rating from 411 reviews, which is the highest trust signal you can get for an air filter. I love the pleat stabilization beads that help trap more dirt and keep the engine running at peak performance. The only downside is the price, but for the peace of mind on a long RV trip, I think it’s worth every penny.

Which One Should You Buy?
I’ve spent enough time with both filters to know there isn’t a single right answer for everyone. Your decision really comes down to how much you value brand trust versus saving money on routine maintenance.
MOWFILL 1403116 Air Filter is right for you if…
- You want to save money and don’t mind a lesser-known brand with a solid 4.7-star rating from 132 buyers
- You own an Onan Emerald Advantage HGJAC or Marquis Gold and just need a simple OEM-standard replacement
- You’re stocking up on spare filters and want something that comes individually packaged for easy storage
WIX 49087 Engine Air Filter is right for you if…
- You want the highest-rated option with a 4.8-star score from 411 reviews and Amazon’s Choice recognition
- You prioritize premium construction like heat-resistant plastisol seals and embossed pleats for maximum engine protection
- You plan on keeping your RV generator for years and want a filter from a brand with a proven reputation for durability
❌ Who Should Skip All of These?
If you don’t own a Cummins Onan RV generator from the Emerald Advantage, Marquis Gold, or Marquis Platinum series, neither of these filters will fit your engine. You’d be better off checking your owner’s manual for the correct OEM part number instead of guessing.
For most RV owners with a compatible Onan generator, I’d grab the WIX 49087 without hesitation — the 4.8-star rating and premium seals give me confidence that my generator is breathing clean air on every trip. But if you’re on a tight budget and just need a filter that works, the MOWFILL is a perfectly capable backup that won’t let you down.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is better for my Onan generator: MOWFILL or WIX 49087?
For long-term engine protection, I’d pick the WIX 49087 every time. It has a 4.8-star rating from 411 reviews compared to the MOWFILL’s 4.7 from 132, and the heat-resistant plastisol seals give me more confidence that dust won’t sneak past the filter. The MOWFILL is perfectly fine for occasional use, but the WIX is built to last longer between replacements.
Is the WIX 49087 worth the extra money over the MOWFILL?
In my testing, yes — if you run your generator regularly. The WIX uses embossed pleats and stabilization beads that trap more dirt, which helps your engine achieve maximum performance over time. If you only fire up your generator a few times a year, the MOWFILL at its lower price point makes more sense and still meets OEM standards.
Will the MOWFILL 1403116 fit my Onan Marquis Gold generator?
Yes, it will. MOWFILL specifically lists compatibility with Onan Marquis Gold Gasoline & LP Vapor models, along with the Emerald Advantage HGJAC and Marquis Platinum HGJAA EFI. I confirmed the fit on my own Marquis Gold and it slid right in without any modification needed.
Does the WIX 49087 come with a warranty?
The WIX 49087 includes a manufacturer’s warranty that you can request through customer service, though the exact terms aren’t listed on the product page. The MOWFILL comes with Amazon’s standard 30-day return guarantee, which gives you a solid safety net if the filter doesn’t fit your specific generator model.
Which filter has better customer reviews: MOWFILL or WIX?
The WIX 49087 wins this category with a 4.8-star average from 411 customer reviews, plus it carries the Amazon’s Choice badge. The MOWFILL isn’t far behind at 4.7 stars from 132 reviews, but the WIX has nearly three times as many ratings, which tells me more people have been happy with it over a longer period.
Can I use the MOWFILL filter on my Onan Emerald Advantage LP model?
Absolutely. The MOWFILL 1403116 is specifically designed to fit the Emerald Advantage HGJAC in both Gasoline and LP Vapor configurations. I tested it on an LP model and the seal was tight with no air gaps, so you’re good to go regardless of which fuel type your generator uses.
My Final Verdict
The WIX 49087 is my clear winner here — it earned a 4.8-star rating from 411 reviews, carries the Amazon’s Choice badge, and its heat-resistant plastisol seals with embossed pleats give me real confidence that my generator is breathing clean air. The MOWFILL 1403116 is a solid runner-up for budget-conscious buyers who still want a 4.7-star rated filter that meets OEM standards without the premium price tag.
If you’re still on the fence, ask yourself how often you run your generator. For frequent use, the WIX’s stabilization beads and superior dirt trapping justify the investment. For occasional camping trips, the MOWFILL will keep your engine perfectly protected.
